Finally getting its debut via StarWars.com, the set everyone has been waiting for – 75294 Bespin Duel – has now been officially revealed.
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, this set focuses on that moment when Darth Vader shares the Skywalker family’s darkest secret.
Ahead of its exclusive retail release at Target.com on August 27th, StarWars.com spoke with Jens Kronvold Frederiksen, the LEGO Star Wars design theme director, to find out the who/what/where/why of this set.
In the course of the interview, Jens admitted that the set was designed for display instead of play, a new approach by LEGO, before going on to explain that the Star Wars team focussed on storytelling when designing this vignette – further clarifying why the set has been given the 18+ tag.
Despite the elevated platform this set was given its first reveal on, there is still no word if the rumors that this is the LEGO exclusive from the cancelled Star Wars Celebration Anaheim event are true.
