Having spent 18 of those weeks in the #1 position on the New York Times Children’s Picture Book Bestseller List, LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary (published in October 2009) has just hit the one year mark on this auspicious book list!
It’s a brilliant start to the new year,” says John Duhigg, DK’s Deputy CEO. “We’re thrilled that the book has struck such a chord with LEGO and Star Wars fans in the U.S.–and all over the world.”
To celebrate the year-long journey on the New York Times Bestsellers List, DK is donating $52,000 in books to the preferred charities of the 501st Legion and the Rebel Legion, the volunteer-led Star Wars costumers who have attended every one of the 100+ DK Star Wars book events organized since the book’s publication. The LEGO Group is also donating 5,200 LEGO Star Wars sets.
Lucasfilm Director of Publishing, Carol Roeder says, “This is such a fun book for fans of all ages, and we’re so excited that it’s enjoying such popularity. The book does a great job of capturing both the original Star Wars universe and LEGO’s unique interpretation.”
Stephanie Lawrence, Global Director of Licensing at The LEGO Group adds, “We couldn’t be happier to kick off the 2011 partnership with such great news and success.”
