Is Amazon Really Restocking The UCS Falcon?

You’ll see a number of LEGO blog sites sharing the news that 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon is back in stock for $799.99, including shipping. But before you decide to drop your next home loan payment on this stunning LEGO set stop, look and listen – because this isn’t quite the deal you think it is.

First off, stocks in the $799.99 offer have gone and Amazon are now selling this set at a higher cost. It’s kind of like what airlines do with cheap ticket offers, only to sell the five allotted bargains in the first five seconds of the sale. This nefarious tactic is called bait-and-switch.

Secondly, the next cheapest offer is priced a significantly more expensive $995.22 (but still comes with free shipping), is coming from Amazon Warehouse but isn’t being sold by Amazon – just fulfilled by them. Which means a third party who has likely not sourced this through LEGO distribution channels. Can you see where this is going?

And finally the real kicker – they’re damaged. That’s right, these are not mint condition. No-one is trying to hide this – the note clearly states “Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged.” but there is no photo to illustrate how damaged it is.

And the next option? $1,060.96 plus $18.99 shipping. Give me an ess, give me a see, give me an ai, give me an el… oh you get it.

If you really still want to pick this up then here’s the link but don’t say you haven’t been warned. If you want to play it safe, the smart bet is to order it through LEGOshop.com when it comes back in stock. You’ll get free shipping, LEGO care and bonus points to spend later if you’re a VIP.
