A number of weeks ago, when it emerged that the last two buildable figures of 2018 had been cancelled, Sir von LEGO assured Eurobrick readers that LEGO was going to release a “compensation set” a few months later to make up for the demise of 75538 Super Battle Droid and 75539 501st Legion Clone Trooper & AT-RT. It’s looking more likely that this is it.
Sir von Lego’s initial leakette compared this set to BB-8 (75187), which was released last year. Using this set as a baseline and assuming that the approximate US$85 price tag is an indicator in the set’s brick count (and therefore size) we can extrapolate some expectations.
The on-screen BB-8 has a height of 67cm while its ABS simulacrum has a height of 25cm (a 60% scale reduction) and comes with a price per brick of 75187 BB-8 is $0.10 ($100/1100). Similarly a screen porg is 25cm * tall, so if the porg is scaled to 75187 BB-8 the creature build will be around 8cm tall.
If you scale the number of bricks from the BB-8 set you get an expected piece count of 370 bricks, which is $0.23/piece – more than double the BB-8’s price per brick. This leads us to surmise that, if the porg is to scale with BB-8, it will be more than a standalone model and could come with a pair of porgs or perhaps a nest and a porglet.
While you wait for this speculation to be clarified why not pop over to LEGOshop.com where there are a minifig-scale porgs available in 75200 Ahch-To Island Training and 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon for you to practice your skills on.
