Could Battle Packs Be Over?

Since their inception in 2007, purportedly as a result of the Great Minifigure Wars of 2000, battle packs have been a popular part of the LEGO Star Wars theme and the backbone of the army builder fraternity.

Now, according to The Brick Fan, these may be coming to an end.

They’ve picked up on a discussion circulating in the Eurobricks forums that 2021 is bereft of these popular sets, and while there is no firm proof that they have been cancelled it has been noted that the Winter Wave rumor list doesn’t contain any.

Whether true or not, the absence of battle packs in the upcoming Winter Wave (if the list is correct) certainly is an outlier. Over the last 13 years a total of 25 battle packs – at an average of 2 per year – have been released and the incredible popularity of the 501st Legion Clone Troopers set (which sold out at LEGO.com within 15 minutes of becoming available) points to this rumor not having any legs.
