For thousands of years there’s been good reason to look forward to the end of the year – whether you light seven candles, expect to have a portly saint climb down your chimney or just because the days start to get longer – and with the upcoming LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special we have even more to look forward to.
Revealed today, via Variety.com, is the news that actors Kelly Marie Tran, Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels will be reprising their roles for the animated special, and alongside them numerous voice talents from The Clone Wars animated series – including Matt Lanter, Tom Kane, James Arnold Taylor and Dee Bradley Baker – will reprise their roles.
In a plot that reads like a certain Dickens novel, a Force-inspired journey leads Rey in a cross-timeline/trilogy/saga adventure that has her meeting Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and other iconic heroes and villains from the Skywalker Saga movies. Will she make it back to Kashyyyk in time to take part in the Life Day festivities?
Most fans of the Star Wars galaxy will instantly recognize elements from the original Star Wars Holiday Special, which was only broadcast once in a limited number of countries. Also set on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk, it recounted the arduous wait that Chewbacca’s son Lumpy had to endure while his father, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia evaded an Imperial blockade in order to visit Chewie’s family on Life Day.
