Be Very, Very Quiet – We’re Hunting Krayt Dragons

In the latest episode of The Mandalorian, our favorite helmet-wearing, gravel-voiced gun-slinger is no stranger to danger when he faces down the most fearsome of Tatooine’s denizens – the legendary Krayt Dragon.

And it looks LEGO will be capturing the action in a new set!

Word first popped up on our radar in September when we reported on a rumor that “75299 Unknown Mandalorian Vehicle ($29.99/276 pieces)” would be part of the Winter Wave and now the folks at Promobricks.de have shared word that this set is named Encounter on Tatooine.

According to their report, the set will include the speeder bike that The Mandalorian borrowed from Peli Motto, the manager at Hangar 3-5 (she won’t be getting it back, will she?), which will have a pannier for The Child minifigure (included), a beskar-wearing The Mandalorian minifigure, an urtya dome tent, and a ballista. Curiously there is no mention of a Tusken Raider minifigure in Promobricks’ description but the grainy photograph that is circulating shows that one is included.

Sadly there is no word on Cobb Vanth and his speeder, but if you’re feeling inspired you can make your own out of spare parts and instructions easily found on the internet.

Fans and collectors may notice that this description is very similar to 7113 Tusken Raider Encounter, which was part of the Attack of the Clones line-up in 2002. This set, priced $9.99, had 93 pieces – including three minifigures – while the rumored 75299 Encounter on Tatooine has 276 pieces and is expected to be around $34.99. Simple mathematics shows that the price per brick (dollars divided by parts) is only marginally out from its nearly-20-year-old counterpart.

  1. Most people will simply be happy to get a minifigure that actually resembles The Mandalorian as the previously released minifigure just doesn’t. Thanks for the Cobb Vanity custom tip but if I were to do a custom figure from this show, it would be the R2 ferry droid from Episode 8. That is a set I would buy!!
