Mini Steps: The Evolution Of The Ahsoka Tano Minifigure

With the release of the seventh and final season of The Clone Wars, this young Jedi found herself at the top of many collectors’ wishlists. When viewers last saw her, Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan had grown up and decided it was time to find her own way in the galaxy. The seventh season followed as she embarked upon this journey and ended with the presumed destruction of the Force-sensitive Togruta.

Ahsoka Tano was first created in minifigure form in 2008 and came included with the first wave of Clone Wars sets. She was found in two sets that year – 7675 AT-TE Walker and 7680 The Twilight – and would go on to be featured in a total of five regular production sets and one of the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con exclusives. She also came included in a magnet set alongside Anakin Skywalker and a Senate Commando. Some variant collectors refer to the magnet set Ahsoka as the “high belt” variant due to the fact that most of the minifigs have the print situated higher on the torso.

Our next version of Ahsoka would come in 2013 with the release of 75013 Umbaran MHC (Mobile Heavy Cannon). This version featured the same Togruta headpiece as the prior version but had fully updated body printing. Her head came with a sterner expression and featured dual-sided printing but maintained the Clone Wars style look. She would also come in 75046 Coruscant Police Gunship the following year.

By the time of Rebels, Ahsoka had blossomed into an adult using the codename Fulcrum. Although it was a bit of a curveball that tied the timeline together, many Clone Wars fans were happy to see this Jedi back in action but it did create many questions that would take five years to answer. Now that she was older, her montrals and head tails had grown which required a different LEGO headpiece. Thankfully another Togruta – Shaak Ti – had already been created which meant the piece had already been designed. This Ahsoka also got updated printing and was the only one to come with a dark orange head. She would be found in only one set – 75158 Rebel Combat Frigate.

As alluded to at the beginning, the jump back in time to complete the Clone Wars series meant a new version of a younger Ahsoka was needed. In order to prevent spoiling any details for the new season, LEGO did not release an updated Ahsoka ahead of the episodes. Once the final season aired, prices on the above Fulcrum shot through the roof quickly becoming one of the most expensive minifigures on the market.

The ceiling finally broke when 75283 Armored Assault Tank (AAT) was released. This version kept the same headpiece as the prior adult Ahsoka but with different printing and featured her dark blue jumpsuit that she was seen in during the seventh season.

As the line grows, there is always the chance that new versions of minifigures will be created, and sometimes this occurs in unexpected ways. With the announcement of the second season of The Mandalorian came the rumors that Ahsoka would make an appearance. In Chapter 11: The Heiress those rumors were fully put to rest as Bo-Katan tells Mando where he can find Ahsoka Tano. The tie-in with yet another series opens the door for many possibilities…
