The Holo-Brick Archives’ Holiday Shopping Guide

Holiday shopping guides come but once a year, and The Holo-Brick Archives is here to lend you a helping hand – with a twist because this year LEGO actually has a range of Star Wars holiday gifts available.

If you were expecting the traditional “buy this set because…” fare you’re going to get a holiday special instead.

Top of the list is 75279 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, which is the 11th addition to the advent calendar subtheme since its inception in 2011.

75279 Star Wars Advent Calendar Box

Starting on December 1st, kids can wake up to a gift every day in the run-up to Christmas with the latest LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, priced at $39.99. Behind each of the 24 doors is a special holiday building set including minifigures, buildable starships and other vehicles – plus some inventive mini-locations and a foldout playmat.

If you want to start your holiday countdown on time head to LEGO.com, Walmart, Target, Amazon.com, Entertainment Earth and Toynk quickly! If you’re too late then don’t worry – come back on December 1st and check out our daily advent calendar reveal. What will be behind door 24?

From publisher DK comes the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Sticker Book, which offers more than 200 fun winter holiday-themed LEGO Star Wars stickers. Our resident sticker expert gave it a thumbs up as he carefully placed the tauntaun head in the right place (which sounds far more gruesome than it really is!).

While the book’s banner declares there are “more than 200 stickers” includes, the bulk of them (150 to be precise) are small stamps that will be great for decorating Christmas cards, leaving 90-odd stickers to be adhered to the story pages in the album.

This, the twelfth official LEGO Star Wars sticker book since DK started publishing them in 2011, is the only printed LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special tie-in product to date, but with the suggestion that there may be more of these TV specials in the years to come who’s to say that there won’t be more books down the line.

Available from Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Target and Walmart, this book is priced $6.99.

Though not new, four of the five holiday additions to the bag charm/tag subtheme that came out for Christmas last year – which include R2-D2, Yoda, Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper with festive accessories – are still available through LEGO.com and some brand stores.

If you can’t use these on school bags or to identify luggage at the airport, these bag tags could be used as a unique Christmas present tag for the LEGO Star Wars fan in the family.

Coming out of Manhattan Toy Company are four LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special plushies that, similar to the bag tags, have festive touches. They all tie in nicely with the other products with Darth Vader matching his advent calendar minifigure, the Stormtrooper pairing with the LED down below, and Yoda featuring in the sticker book above. Priced $17.99, these are exclusively available at Target (while stocks last).

Collectors will be glad to know that these aren’t just rehashes of the prior plushes with a sweater added – under the shirt, the torsos are blank. It’s debatable whether or not the holiday accessories are worth the $3 markup from the prior plushes. Rey, who was the focus of the Holiday Special, did not get a holiday remake. Unfortunately Yoda is just as ugly!

There are also two Hallmark Keepsake LEGO Star Wars ornaments to include in our festive LEGO Star Wars rundown.

Create holiday memories and build on Han Solo and Chewbacca’s epic adventures with these two Christmas tree ornaments that feature the lovable scoundrel and his brave Wookiee companion in signature LEGO styling.

These ornaments measure 2.46″/6.3cm tall, maintain the minifigure look at 140% of the normal scale and are made of lead-free plastic. They are both available at Hallmark.com and Amazon.com for $16.99 (MSRP) each. Members of Hallmark’s Crown Rewards programme get free shipping in the United States.

Finally, there are two Holiday Special LED keychain lights – Darth Vader and Stormtrooper – from Santoki, the current license holder for LEGO Star Wars LED Lights, Stationery, and lifestyle accessories.

Initially tipped to be an Ace Hardware exclusive, there seems to have been some distribution issues because retailers – like Amazon.com who list both the ugly sweater Darth Vader and Stormtrooper keychain lights – have yet to show them as in stock.

If you’re digging the ugly sweater vibe this year and feel gypped by the lack of a wearable version then you’ll definitely want to check out our earlier report and make your own!

And that’s our complete rundown of all the LEGO Star Wars holiday products out this year! The most notable was the complete lack of a LEGO Star Wars Annual from AMEET – breaking a five-year tradition that started in 2016.

What are you hoping to get in your Christmas stocking this year? Share your wish list below – you never know who’s reading it!
