THBA Update: LEDs Are Now Lighting Up The Database

At The Holo-Brick Archives growing the Database is one of our top priorities! The majority of the time this is by adding new items to existing categories, but sometimes a new category needs to be created which means it is time for the LED key chain lights to join the lineup of accessory items.

The first LEGO Star Wars LEDlites were released in 2011 by IQ Hong Kong/ClicTime, with Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and a Stormtrooper all shining a light on the dark side. We wouldn’t get our first “good guy” LED until the following year when Yoda was released. Since then a total of thirty-three different lights have been created!

Just as with other accessory items, the packaging artwork has been changed on many of the LEDs creating variants for the hardcore collectors to track down. It wasn’t until 2019 when Santoki picked up the subtheme’s license that this stopped being the case and a paper tag replaced the cardboard box that had previously been packaged in.

This past year was a bit down from the number in 2019, but still, three new LEDs were released. As part of a large holiday push both ugly Christmas sweater Darth Vader and Stormtrooper were released, and building on the popularity of The Mandalorian also came a Din Djarin light.

At 175% the size of a traditional minifigure, the LEDs are a unique part of the LEGO Star Wars theme. This size discrepancy makes for some great “family” photos when put alongside a standard figure.
