Are These Clues To The Skywalker Saga’s Release Date?

Have clues as to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s release date already been teased?

Ever since the only known release date – October 20th, 2020 – being accidentally revealed (and quickly redacted) by the This Week! in Star Wars team last May and later delayed to Spring 2021, fans have been trying to work out when the next installment in the LEGO Star Wars video game series will be released.

Learn more about the history of these amazing games:

Whether you determine the Spring season as meteorological and lasting from March 1 to May 31, or astronomically and starting on March 21 and ending on June 22, the promised Spring release window is fast approaching.

Surprisingly – because it has gone unnoticed for over a week – Gamestop has been dangling one possibility under our noses, with May 31st being listed as their nominated release date.

In addition, Brick Fanatics is reporting that a tweet by MauroNL shows that an internship listing at WB Games indicates the titles due out in the second quarter of the year, putting it either April, May or June.

It’s worth noting that this expert video game industry analyst doesn’t provide a link to the internship EOI and none of the listings on the WB Games careers page mentions anything to do with the release of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Perhaps even more circumstantially is the April 13th shelf date for the upcoming Yoda’s Galaxy Atlas book from DK.

With one of the main selling points of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is the open-world gameplay that promises “23 planets/moons with 28 unique locations that the player can visit, each full of quests, challenges, items, and characters to find” according to Dawn McDiarmid – one of the project managers at Tt Games who was recent interviewed by the UK edition of the Official Playstation Magazine – a playful reminder of the Star Wars galaxy’s layout would be timely.

It might be a coincidence that the children’s book will offer a similar number of locations:

Take a tour of 25 fascinating worlds, from desert planet Tatooine to remote ice world Hoth. Head off the familiar tourist track to Crait, or explore Yoda’s own swamp hideout on Dagobah.

That said, the timing of the book’s release and the nature of its contents might be a red herring; the original announcement, which included a publication date that hasn’t changed – unlike the next LEGO Star Wars video game, certainly suggests that there is no connection between the two.
