The gasp of surprise that went through those first audiences of The Empire Strikes Back when the first sight of Darth Vader’s flesh – and with it, a hint at the damage that had been inflicted on his body – was revealed in May, 1980 are sure to be repeated this summer if the latest rumors are to be believed.
This is the first time this location has been visited since the flip-open 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer was released in 2006, with a meditation chamber that had a much lower piece count than what is being suggested for this August.
Supposedly, according to the now ex-LAN member Ryan McCluckluck, the set will be aimed at the 18+ market, much like the 75294 Bespin Duel exclusive that came out in August 2020, and if the part count provided by exabrickslego is true, Darth Vader’s meditation chamber could be significantly larger than the 295 piece set that depicted Luke’s discovery of his paternal lineage. That said, given the recent penchant for high levels of detail, it’s likely that a large proportion of the pieces will be numerous small elements instead of a larger playset.
Brick Fanatics writes that “the LEGO Star Wars team is well aware of how popular 75294 Bespin Duel was, and is subsequently leaning further into adult-targeted display models,” adding the hope that the line that started 20 years ago will try to catch up with the first generation of fans.
