May The 4th Be With You: All You Need To Know

Aside from it being the fourth day of the fifth month and the 123rd day of the year, the date that has become known as Star Wars Day is one that is heavily anticipated by Star Wars fans – especially those who enjoy LEGO sets – so The Holo-Brick Archive has collated all the offers coming from the Danish house of bricks.

Kicking off at 7am CET on May 1st on the LEGO.com website (and normal opening hours for their branded stores) is the start of the eleventh annual retail celebration of Star Wars, and this year promises to be extra special because 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of Lucasfilm

As usual, there is a slew of new products to purchase, a free and exclusive set, a new(ish) polybag and multiple rewards offers to make parting with your hard-earned a little bit easier:

40451 Tatooine Homestead

The most sought-after MT4BWY reward is the vaunted gift with purchase (GWP) that comes free with the purchase of a certain value of LEGO Star Wars products – either online or in-store.

What started out as a unique polybagged minifigure pivoted in 2019 when LEGO released the first of their micro-build vignettes, and this year continues the trend of delivering a cool landscape that captures a special moment in the Star Wars timeline.

This set will be automatically added to online shopping baskets at checkout or can be picked up at participating brand stores (while stocks last). North American and European customers will need to spend US$85, CA$85, €85, UK£85, AU$169 (equivalent to US$130) or NZ$169 to receive this set.

It’s worth noting that this year’s threshold is up from 2020, when a minimum of US$75 was required. That said, this isn’t going to be a hard task to achieve given the number of new sets that are being made available at the end of April.

30388 Imperial Shuttle

In lieu of the traditional in-store build, which has been canceled due to COVID precautions, is a complimentary polybag of the Empire’s most famous tri-foiled transport ship.

Having already been made available through a limited release at Meijer stores in the Mid-West of the United States and in LEGO branded stores in Europe and Australia, this is the first chance for most of the rest of the world.

Spending US$40, CA$40, EU€40 or GB£40 will see this set added to your purchase when made in participating brand stores (offer is not valid on LEGO.com).

Double VIP Rewards Points

This free-to-join customer loyalty program that is run by LEGO allows you to earn at least 5% back when you shop in a LEGO branded store (LEGOLAND Park and certified stores operate different systems) or online.

Running from May 1st to May 5th, LEGO will be rewarding their VIP members with twice as many points as normal – when buying LEGO Star Wars products – which would equate to around $40 that could be redeemed against future LEGO purchases (online or instore) if you were to buy all the sets mentioned above.

VIP Rewards Sweepstakes

Slipping in at the end – mostly because there is scant information about this offer available – is a sweepstakes for a minifigure of Dutch Vander (from 75181 Y-Wing Starfighter)which will run from May 1st to 21st.

Along with the minifigure comes a print signed by Angus MacInnes, the actor who played Gold Leader in A New Hope (and digitally reprised in Rogue One), both of which come in a transparent – and presumably UV-resistant – display case. If this offer is anything like the Maz Kanata sweepstakes that LEGO ran in March 2020, entry will cost 50 points each and VIP Rewards members will be allowed a maximum of 15 entries, for a total of 750 VIP points.

What are part of the May The 4th Be With You celebrations are you looking forward to? Or do you avoid them and hunt down exclusive GWPs on the secondary market? We want to hear your thoughts.
