LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2021 Gets Revealed On This Week! In Star Wars

Out of her spare bedroom and back in the studio, Kirsten Baver gives this year’s LEGO Star Wars Advent calendar its debut on the latest This Week! In Star Wars, so grab a cup of hot chocolate, stoke the fire, and rug up because Winter is here (figuratively if you’re in the upper half of the world and for real if you live below the equator).

Since its initial availability as a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive in 2011, the annual LEGO Star Wars Advent calendar has been one of the mainstays – along with the Winter wave – for fans of the theme at Christmas time.

Traditionally the surprises hidden behind the 24 doors that mark Advent have been sourced from the entire width and breadth of the Star Wars panoply but this year is different, with all the models and minifigures coming directly from The Mandalorian live-action TV series, which was due to have the climax of its third season broadcast during December – until production was delayed due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Speaking to StarWars.com, product designer and recent addition to the Star Wars team Jason Zapantis shared that simplifying the complex builds was a challenge, particularly given that the builds entire instructions need to be contained in a small square.

“So when designing, we want to keep builds easy to read and minimize the amount of parts. We look for elements that are as close to resembling the different shapes found on a vehicle and avoid building it out.” he explained.

Included with Advent calendar are seven minifigures (Scout Trooper, Stormtrooper, Tusken Raider, IG-11 and IT-O Interrogator Droid and festively adorned The Mandalorian and the Child/Baby Yoda/Grogu) as well as 17 mini builds of The Razor Crest, a TIE Fighter, a speeder bike, Tusken ballista snowball launcher, training targets, a weapon rack, a New Republic X-wing, Moff Gideon’s cruiser, Slave I, and lastly the Child’s hoverpram – which Zapantis admits is his favorite.

Concurrently added to LEGO.com, 75307 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar has a $39.99 price tag and will be available to purchase from September 1st.
