75316 Mandalorian Starfighter: Minifigure Breakdown

This wave is being overrun with Mandalorians but that doesn’t sound like a problem to me! With both the release of The Mandalorian and Clone Wars Season 7 featuring numerous references to them, it comes as no surprise that we would get a few new faces – three to be exact for set 75316.

LEGO’s Mandalorian Starfighter is more formally known as a Kom’rk-class fighter/transport aka Gauntlet Starfighter. It was first seen in The Clone Wars animated series and subsequently released as set 9525 Pre Vizsla’s Mandalorian Fighter. It would show up again in Rebels, Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, and The Mandalorian. Although Bo-Katan is seen with the ship during The Mandalorian Season 2, this set is still based on The Clone Wars.

Bo-Katan Kryze

Bo-Katan was a lieutenant in Death Watch under the rule of Pre Vizsla. After several changes in power, she became the Mand’alor which is the leader of the Mandalorian people.

She first appeared in The Clone Wars Season 4 Episode 14 A Friend in Need and would later make appearances in other animated episodes before being shown in live-action in The Mandalorian Season 2.

Bo-Katan wore traditional blue Mandalorian armor which had been in her family for three generations and was equipped with a Z-6 jetpack. Her helmet printing was styled after an owl giving her and her followers the name Nite Owls. While some Mandalorians never remove their helmet, Bo-Katan had no problem removing her headgear. Doing so revealed her red locks which she kept back with a headband. Both of these are captured on the LEGO version, and an alternate hairpiece is also included. She comes equipped with dual WESTAR-35 blaster pistols.

Gar Saxon

With all the political changes on Mandalore, Gar Saxon chose to align himself with Darth Maul and the Shadow Collective. Doing so would position him as the commander of the Mandalorian Super Commandos.

Gar Saxon would actually appear in a comic series prior to ever being shown in animated form. Star Wars Rebels was the first to show the character and then he would be written in during Season 7 of The Clone Wars cartoon.

He is a striking character bearing a strong resemblance to the Zabrak Sith who he aligned with. Gar would alter his Mandalorian Super Commando armor to have black and red painting to symbolize his allegiance to Darth Maul, and his helmet was altered to include Zabrak horns. He maintained his jetpack and would use it skillfully to outmaneuver enemies. The LEGO version also comes with a unique head print that features his 5 o’clock shadow look.

Mandalorian Loyalist

These Mandalorians were the ones who stayed loyal to Clan Kryze after Darth Maul took control of Mandalore. There are numerous unnamed characters who are seen in the cartoon.

The first generic Mandalorians first appeared in LEGO form in set 7914 Mandalorian Battle Pack. These Mandos had dark blue and gray coloration and were great for the time. This character is inspired by the ones seen in Season 7.

Both the torso and leg printing are unique and show off the battle-worn Mandalorian armor seen in the animated series. Each Mandalorian comes with their own jetpack, and the JT-12 was a common model during those times. It was differentiated by the Z-6 that Bo-Katan wore by the lack of the firing missile. The helmet on this figure comes with a unique print, but the head underneath is plain black. The minifig is equipped with a pair of blaster pistols.

This is an impressive set overall with three can’t-miss minifigures. The design on them is quite good, and the unique helmet mold for Gar Saxon is remarkable.
