When the first helmets were added to the Adult Collector subtheme in 2020 many cried out for matching mega figs, a concept scale that LEGO first introduced with staff Christmas gift in 2018. Fans of the Harry Potter theme were rewarded in 2021 when the 10 inch (26 cm) tall, articulated 76393 Harry Potter & Hermione Granger set was released as part of the theme’s 20th anniversary.
Thanks to Albo.LEGO, a MOC designer on Rebrickable, builders can augment their collection with bodies to go with their Boba Fett, Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, Biker Scout and TIE Fighter Pilot helmet collection sets.
Not one to take credit for someone else’s idea, Albo.LEGO notes that the inspiration for these came from Swedish AFOL and creator Aukbricks who came up with a design for a 15.75 inch (40 cm) tall brick-built minifigure that perfectly mimics the proportions, articulation and three-piece assembly of the regular inhabitant of the LEGOsphere.
After recognizing that Aukbrick’s model was the perfect size for the Star Wars helmet collection, Albo.LEGO took the design to the next level by creating a Boba Fett mega figure. Since then he has produced minifigure-shaped stands for the entire helmet collection.
With instructions priced at €5.50 (*approximately US$6.25) and averaging around 1650 parts, these five models aren’t for the fainthearted. If you’d prefer to start with a simpler model, you can get instructions for Ausbrick’s original minifigure for free, and swapping out the colors will make for an Everyone Is Awesome monochrome collection.
Well I know what my next project will be :p
I’m tempted too!
