Life-Size Millennium Falcon Cockpit Returns

Unexpectedly showing up at the Brooklyn Nets vs Charlotte Hornets NBA game over the weekend was a life-size version of the Millennium Falcon cockpit made out of LEGO bricks.

The 200,000 plus piece structure was on display in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and was used to promote the upcoming release of the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga video game. Fans who attended Sunday’s game were able to see the build on display as well as have a chance to play the new video game on a custom designed version of the Xbox Series S console.

It isn’t the first time that this cockpit has made an appearance, however. In 2018 – aligning with the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story – a team of Master Builders constructed the display which debuted at Dolby Theater in Hollywood. Whether the build was disassembled and then reconstructed or kept in a warehouse for the past three years is anyone’s guess!

The entire feature, which includes lights and sounds, took 12 people a total of 705 hours to build, incorporated 201,985 bricks and weighed in at 1345 lbs (610 kilograms)!
