LEGO CON 2022: What Did We Learn?

With two hours and 34 minutes of live-streamed footage – and a surprising 10 minutes devoted to the LEGO Star Wars theme – we recap what the top reveals (and potential teases) of this year’s LEGO CON were.

Two New Sets Are Coming

It won’t come as a surprise to anyone that LEGO took this opportunity to reveal that two new sets – 75323 The Justifier and 75337 AT-TE Walker – will be added to the growing Summer wave list.

75323 The Justifier

The Justifier, the starship owned by the bounty hunter Cad Bane, was designed for the unfinished sixth season of The Clone Wars and was eventually introduced in the ninth episode of the first season of The Bad Batch after capturing Omega, the adopted member of Clone Force 99.

Sporting a detailed easy-access cockpit and a folding rear engine that controls the landing gear, this set comes with four minifigures: Cad Bane, Omega, Fennec Shand and Hunter, as well as a Todo 360 droid figure.

Price: US$169.99 / CA$209.99 / UK£149.99 / DE€169.99AU$259.99

75337 AT-TE Walker

Stepping out of the Battle of Utapau, this All Terrain Tactical Enforcer has six posable legs, a 360-degree-rotating elevating heavy blaster cannon with two stud shooters, a detachable minifigure cockpit, and detailed cabins with space for up to seven LEGO minifigures.

Included in this set are eight minifigures: five Clone troopers with an all-new phase two helmet (Commander Cody, a 212th Clone Gunner and three 212th Clone Troopers) plus three Battle Droid figures.

Price: US$139.99 / CA$179.99 / UK£119.99 DE€139.99 / AU$229.99

Both sets will be available at general retail on August 1st, 2022.

Summer Vacation Trailer Announced

LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation trailer announced
Possible new Advent calendar minifigure

Freshly revealed at the Summer of LEGO Star Wars panel at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, LEGO Con 2022 gave us a sneak peek at the Summer Vacation special and announced that the Disney+ exclusive animated one-off will have its first trailer on Tuesday (June 21st).

Given how much LEGO likes to drop in hidden teasers, the Emperor in bathers may just well be a minifigure from this year’s LEGO Star Wars Advent calendar, which got its reveal last week!

LEGO Is Teasing Us

AT-TE handle may have more than one use

The second that guests Michael Lee Stockwell (senior set designer) and Madison Andree O’Neil (senior graphic designer) walked on the stage, their matching t-shirts were worth taking note of. Could the outline of the Razor Crest be a nod towards the next UCS set, which is due out in September?

Additionally, could the grab handle that allows 75337 AT-TE Walker to be picked up have another purpose? Fans will remember that 7675 AT-TE Walker had a similar feature which later turned out to be suitable for 10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker to connect to.

LEGO Has A Sense Of Humor

The cake is not a lie
All the 2023 sets are ready

Reminding us that they are a children’s toy company, LEGO added a touch of levity to this year’s live-stream event by revealing that designers who manage to include a pink brick in their sets get rewarded with a pink cake. Presumably, the staffer who works on the BrickHeadz line is exempt from this tradition.

And finally, in an inside look at the LEGO Star Wars team’s development studios, senior designer César Soares gave viewers an exclusive glimpse at next year’s collection, which is gray and blocky.
