Amazon.com Confirms 77904 Nebulon-B As Coming Soon!

LEGO Star Wars fans ran around in circles earlier this month when the instructions for a hitherto unknown 77904 Nebulon-B Medical Frigate midi-scale model appeared on the LEGO customer service server, and then, not long afterward added a short product page to the children’s zone of LEGO.com which included boxed pics with the San Diego Comic-Con logo and a brief set description.

Recreate every cool detail of the Nebulon-B Frigate with this brilliant LEGO® Star Wars™ construction set. Remember dramatic scenes aboard this Rebel cruiser as you build, then display your creation on its brick-built stand and show it off to friends. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

It was pretty safe to assume that this set – though not the large-scale version that LEGO included in a recent IDEAS poll to find out what Ultimate Collector Series set fans wanted next – would have been the San Diego Comic-Con exclusive, had the event not been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This led fans to wonder if – and when – the set would make an appearance. After all, the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim exclusive – 75294 Bespin Duel – came out as a LEGO.com exclusive in North America – why not the limited edition San Diego Comic-Con set?

While fans waited and speculated the only bit to consistently grab people’s attention was the scuttlebut that it would be available in November, but nothing to substantiate this ever surfaced.

Now, however, a recent search of the LEGO Star Wars brand store on Amazon.com has discovered a mystery set three-quarters of the way down the listing with the product name of “LEGO tbd-CC-SW-2020”. It doesn’t take a cryptographer to work out the bulk of the initialisms, leaving CC – which is presumably Comic-Con.

UPDATE: within a few hours of the LEGO collecting community picking up on this story, the Amazon listing was taken down. Anecdotal evidence suggests that approximately 1000 sets were pre-sold, without any limits on how many could be ordered. Based on previous Star Wars Celebration exclusives, this is less than half of the expected allotment. Those we were able to succesfully complete their order were notified that their purchase would shipon November 18th. The expectation is that orders will be cancelled.

What’s more, the Amazon URL (which only leads to a 404 page) includes the number 6321243 in it, and a search on Google quickly brings up a page on Brickset.com that has this numeral as the LEGO item number on their – you guessed it – 77904 Nebulon-B Medical Frigate entry.

With a very affordable price tag of $39.99, this 459-piece set is going to get snapped up quickly – whenever it comes out. Whether its distribution is limited to only the United States is unknown, however, this product isn’t showing up in the LEGO brand store areas on Amazon Canada, Germany or the United Kingdom, suggesting that it is exclusive to Amazon USA.
