The Force was strong in Melbourne, Australia this May The 4th Be With You weekend when Ryan “The Brickman” McNaught, the only LEGO Certified Professional in the Southern Hemisphere, constructed a 3 meter tall statue of Yoda.
It took certified LEGO professional, Ryan McNaught, more than 100,000 LEGO bricks and 12 hours to build the looming 3 metre statue to mark Star Wars Day on May the 4th.
The entire structure was built from regular LEGO blocks, with green, tan and brown blocks in the 2 x 4, 2 x 6 and 1 x 8 dot brick sizes.
Built from the ground-up, Mr McNaught built the statue from a more manageable smaller model.

More than 400 members of the public helped out by assembling larger brick sections that Mr McNaught could use for the model, which is part of a larger promotion to raise awareness for the upcoming The Yoda Chronicles series.
He said he hoped the event would be an inspiration to Star Wars and LEGO fans.
“I really enjoyed meeting and building together with children, adults and even lots of young Darth Vaders, Princess Leias and Storm Troopers,” he said.
“It’s been a phenomenal weekend.”

The giant Yoda will remain in the Toys “R” Us branch at Westfield Doncaster until May 20th.
Older LEGO Star Wars fans may remember the series of big builds that took place in at Celebration 3 and at several LEGO stores in the United States during 2008 and 2009 where visitors could help with the construction, and earn themselves a specially commissioned promo brick for their effort.
