LEGO Maquettes Delayed

From shop.starwars.com comes this mail-out:

Dear Customer,

You may have noticed that from time to time, Star Wars collectibles that are sold on StarWarsShop.com (LucasArtsStore.com) and/or other online retailers ship at a later date than originally scheduled. Sometimes the product ships a week later (and sometimes months later) than expected. We want to address this fact as some of you have expressed curiosity as to why product shipment delays happen.

Ship dates can change for any number of reasons. It can be the result of delayed product approvals, changes in a manufacturers production plan, or delayed materials shipments. Recently this year, an economic shift has occurred in Southern China. As many Star Wars collectibles are manufactured in this region, manufacturers are faced with constraints that delay production and shipment of finished product.

This brings us to the LEGO Star Wars Maquettes. The Stormtrooper and Darth Vader characters were scheduled to ship this month and next. However, due to manufacturer constraints, production of these pieces was delayed and is now scheduled for Summer 2007. That said, we expect to have the maquettes in the U.S. and ready to ship to you by late August. For those of you that purchased the LEGO Star Wars Boba Fett Maquette, we expect that piece to ship early September.

We deeply apologize for the delay, and we understand the frustration you may be experiencing . We are currently working on a collectible item that we would like to give to you free of charge, along with your LEGO Star Wars Maquette. This item will never be sold and only available to you. Within the next few weeks, we will send a follow-up email that shows you what this item is. Talk to you then!

Sincerely,
