Following the end of the Galactic Civil War, peace and stability has finally returned to the galaxy and the New Republic governs with an even hand. Unknown to them the remnants of the Empire, having recombined to form the First Order under the leadership of Kylo Ren, are about to launch a devastating attack with their new weapon of terror. While defecting from the New Order, stormtrooper Finn rescues Resistance hero Poe Dameron who was captured while on a quest, given to him by General Leia Organa, to find the last surviving Jedi - Luke Skywalker. Castaway on the desert planet of Jakku, Finn and Poe are aided by Rey, an orphan with a lost past. Together they return to the Resistance's hidden base in time to join the assault on Starkiller base which threatens to bring an end to peace and freedom.
