While the master and apprentice duo of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi are helping oversee a trade dispute between the powerful Trade Federation and the planet of Naboo, they find themselves entangled in a dangerous plot. When her homeworld is invaded, Queen Amidala turns to the two Jedi for safe passage. While escaping their starship is damaged, and they find safe haven on the remote world of Tatooine where a young slave named Anakin Skywalker steps forward to help them. Recognising his connection with the Force, Qui-Gon seeks to enroll him in the Jedi Order. Faced with his responsibility to help the people of Naboo, he returns to free the planet from oppression and meets his end at the hands of Darth Maul, a mysterious Sith Lord. Taking up the mantle, Obi-Wan commits to training Anakin once the Trade Federation has been routed.
