Fresh off the back of their Mando Mondays reveal of the new 75299 Trouble on Tatooine set, LEGO.com has added four new sets of the upcoming Winter Wave, due out late December/early January.

- 75301 Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing Fighter
All the sets – which are listed as “coming soon” – can be bookmarked to your personal wish list, and then added to your shopping basket later.
While we have seen a Millennium Falcon in Microfighter form twice already – making this little more than a rehash of 75030 Millennium Falcon from 2014 – and the TIE Fighter is reportedly 2/3rd scale to the previous 75211 Imperial TIE Fighter, it’s the inclusion of a beskar-armored The Mandalorian minifigure in 75299 Trouble on Tatooine and the never-before-released General Dodonna in 75301 Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing Starfighter than has got LEGO Star Wars fans excited.
Accidentally exposed, in what was the year’s biggest catalog leak, were three other sets – 75298 Tauntaun/AT-AT Dual Pack, 75297 Resistance X-wing Starfighter and 75302 Imperial Shuttle – which have yet to be officially announced.
In so many ways I agree with the so called reboot of some of the Classic sets such as the X Wing and Tie Fighter but with less pieces, less detail and a lower price. These will be perfect for the newbies out there and the kids spending their Birthday and Christmas money as the last X Wing at £90 was waaay out of their reach. On the other hand, for people who have been collecting a while, next year will be just like 2004 all over again. After 11 film’s, 260 TV show episodes, dozens of books and hundreds of comics, I would hope that Lego has enough source material available to be able to produce at least a few decent “firsts” every year.
I agree with this reboot (if that is what it is), and you’re right that the LEGO Star Wars theme has lost track of what it was intended for. Last year would have been a good time t do this – LEGO could have reintroduced sets from the first assortments and included the classic yellow minifigure with the sets. Oh well, opportunity lost.
