All New LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales Coming This October

We have seen a lot of original Star Wars content coming through the Disney+ platform and with the announcement of the lineup for the next few years, fans should have plenty to look forward to. For those of us who are especially interested in the plastic interlocking brick side of the galaxy far, far away all of this content increases the chances of new sets and minifigures.

However, Disney+ is also putting out new LEGO content which is equally as exciting! LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales was officially announced today and will be hitting the streaming platform on October 1st. Starwars.com provided us with a synopsis of what to expect!

After the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Poe Dameron and BB-8 must make an emergency landing on the volcanic planet Mustafar where they meet the greedy and conniving Graballa the Hutt. The crime boss has purchased Darth Vader’s castle and is renovating it into the galaxy’s first all-inclusive Sith-inspired luxury hotel. While waiting for his X-Wing to be repaired, Poe, BB-8, Graballa, and Dean (a plucky and courageous young boy who works as Graballa’s mechanic) venture deep into the mysterious castle with Vader’s loyal servant, Vaneé. Along the way, Vaneé shares three creepy stories linked to ancient artifacts and iconic villains from across all eras of Star Wars. As Vaneé spins his tales and lures our heroes deeper into the shadowy underbelly of the castle, a sinister plan emerges. With the help of Dean, Poe and BB-8 will have to face their fears, stop an ancient evil from rising, and escape to make it back to their friends.

For those who are fans of other Star Wars works, this may sound familiar to the comic miniseries Tales from Vader’s Castle which was written in 2018. This set of comics plus the sequel – Return to Vader’s Castle – covers scary stories from the depths of Vader’s Mustafar inhabitance.

While the synopsis is exciting in and of itself, more interesting are some of the casted roles that will be featured in the special.

  • Jake Green as Poe Dameron
  • Raphael Alejandro as Dean
  • Dana Snyder as Graballa the Hutt
  • Tony Hale as Vaneé
  • Christian Slater as Ren
  • Trevor Devall as Emperor Palpatine
  • Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as NI-L8
  • Matt Sloan as Darth Vader

Poe, Emperor Palpatine, and Darth Vader are great characters no doubt, but we have seen enough of them. What about the others? Dean is a completely new character from what I can tell, so it will be interesting to see how he turns out. Graballa is a familiar Hutt who has made appearances in several other animated series. We have yet to see him in LEGO form!

Vaneé is actually briefly seen in Rogue One and is the one who announces that Director Krennic has arrived on Mustafar. He is also a character in several of the comic ministories mentioned above. NI-L8 is a nice tie-in since this droid was made in minifigure form earlier this year and released with 75300 Imperial TIE Fighter. The last character on the list is Ren who is the one after which the Knights of Ren were named. Very little about his background was explored in the sequel trilogy, so this could provide more insight into their origins.

Terrifying Tales is the second special to come from Disney+ alongside last year’s Holiday Special reboot. Could this be an annual tradition? Time will tell!
