With the truncated 2022 toy fair season coming to an end and a trickle of new product announcements – including the newest helmet additions and the 75234 Dark Trooper Attack playset – coming out from LEGO, as well as a healthy list of rumored Spring releases we’ve already got a good idea of what’s coming up in the first quarter of the year.
Now, thanks to a recent post by the team at German-language LEGO Star Wars site Promobricks.de, we’re beginning to get a clear picture of what is coming out in the third season of 2022.
According to their sources, which are only providing limited information and temporary set names at this point, there are many exciting sets to come, starting August 1st.
Tying in with the animated The Bad Batch series, which is believed to have a second season starting in May, is 75323 Cad Bane’s Ship. Having already been immortalized in 8128 Cad Bane’s Speeder, the Duros bounty hunter hasn’t been seen in LEGO form since 2010. It’s too late for the Xanadu Blood, the starfighter he piloted in The Clone Wars animated series but not for the Justifier, which appeared in the first season of The Bad Batch in 2021. Numbering 1022 pieces and coming with at least one minifigure, this set is expected to retail for €159.99.
Breaking from the Winter wave update for the 4+ subtheme that has been consistent for the last three years is the next addition of 75332 AT-ST, a simplified version of the Imperial scout walker. Whether this 87-piece model, which is expected to have a €29.99 price tag, will be of the Hoth or Endor variety remains to be seen.
Having had an updated Clone Wars-based 75214 Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter released in 2018, it’s been a four year wait for 75333 Jedi Starfighter, which – as revealed by the inclusion of an Obi-Wan Kenobi and all new Taun We minifigures – is expected to be an Attack of the Clones tie-in set and will help mark the 20th anniversary of the movie’s release. Believed to comprise of 282 parts, this Summer wave set is expected to cost €29.99.
The next addition to the Sculptures subtheme is 75335 BD-1, the bipedal droid that appeared in the Jedi: Fallen Order video game that was released in 2019 (and not to be confused with the similar BD unit that is owned by Peli Motto and made its live-action debut in The Book of Boba Fett). If this rumor proves true it is the third set to be inspired by a Star Wars video game; the other two being 7672 Rogue Shadow and 75226 Inferno Squad Battle Pack, which came from The Force Unleashed and Battlefront II respectively. This brick-built robot is said to have 1062 pieces and be priced €99.99, and – if true – would likely include a new BD-1 minifigure in the same style as the one that came with 75278 D-O, released in 2020.
It’s a no-brainer that LEGO will release 75340 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar this year, and true to form it will arrive at the start of September. Whether or not it will have a single theme like 75307 Star Wars Advent Calendar is unknown, but it is predicted to include festively decorated R2-D2, C-3PO and Luke Skywalker minifgures. Made up of 329 parts, this set will retail for €34.99.
Also making the rumor list is 75325, an unknown set that is being tied in with The Book of Boba Fett live-action series. Initially this was pegged to include a a brick-built rancor monster but is now thought to be the modified N-1 starfighter which Din Djarin piloted. Expected to have a slightly earlier release in June, this set is said to have 411 pieces and come with a €69.99 price tag.
At a predicted €529.99, the most expensive set of 2022 is the anticipated Master Builder Series set, which – if LEGO follows the expected cycle – should be arriving at the start of the last quarter of the year. Given that LEGO is marking the 20th anniversary of Attack of the Clones, it is hoped that it will be the Petranaki Arena on Geonosis – but this is only conjecture. Promobricks is attaching set number 75331 to this rumor.
Another number being associated with the Summer wave is 75334, a set that Promobricks is hoping will be Jango Fett’s original version of the iconic Firespray gunship that Boba Fett owns; a model that has never been revisited since it was first released as 7153 Jango Fett’s Slave I in 2002. That said, it could be a tie-in set – which is known to exist – for the Obi-Wan Kenobi live-action television series, debuting on May 25th on the Disney+ streaming platform. Regardless of what the set is, the only confirmed details are a 408 part count and a €49.99 retail price.
Sticking with the Attack of the Clones collection is the expected arrival of 75336 AT-TE, a set that hasn’t seen a re-release since 2013 (if you don’t count the modified 75157 Captain Rex’s AT-TE that came out in 2016). It is believed to have 924 pieces and be priced at €99.99.
The last number being attached to the upcoming LEGO Star Wars theme is 75337, and is another set that has no known name. With a part count of 1082 and a price point of €139.99, it’s fair to say this is a substantial set. Promobricks are hoping it will be a new Republic Gunship, a System-scale vehicle that hasn’t been updated since 75021 Republic Gunship came out in 2013.
While there are certain to be more rumored details popping up in the coming weeks, don’t expect to see any official validation of the Summer wave until June or July, well after the Spring wave and May The 4th Be With You celebration sets have hit shelves.
