Arriving in Anaheim the day before Star Wars Celebration starts, The Holo-Brick Archives was able to access the exhibitor hall to check out what LEGO has in store for us during the four-day event.
Working with their long-term event partner, Creatacor, and convention center staff the main overhead display had been hung and the central storage/office/shop had been erected. Utilizing the hard walls was a number of mosaics, which were in various stages of completion, depicting Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Book of Boba Fett and The Bad Batch series.
The main display area, which held a display of every LEGO Star Wars minifigure, was largely filled with attractive wooden shipping boxes that protected the display cases and large builds during shipping (and from prying eyes). This area faced onto the footprint’s main feature – the Summer of LEGO Star Wars mural. At this point of the preparations, the Scarif-inspired mosaic of LEGO pieces was only partially complete and will be finished off during the course of the event by LEGO fans themselves.
The rest of the footprint was filled with paletts of boxes filled with LEGO sets – including the newly announced 40547 BrickHeadz Obi-Wan Kenobi & Darth Vader dualpack, hundreds of 30495 AT-ST polybags (anyone hoping to pick up a Blue Milk Luke Skywalker minifigure is going to be disappointed) which will be the reward for taking part in the mural build activity.
Of special interest was the stack of boxes that had a shipping docket, which listed their contents as a special Star Wars issue of the LEGO Life magazine and a Star Wars belly band (whatever that is).
Any remaining space in the LEGO booth was taken up by merchandise headed for the pop-up retail store set off to one side. After close inspection of the stock there was no sign of any of the Summer wave being made available during Star Wars Celebration.
